  1. I used to use a skull cap in colder weather, but recently I've obtained a Gore Cycle Cap with ear flaps which combines the benefits of a skull cap with that of a cycling cap. Admittedly it looks a bit less "cool" off the bike however.

  2. I often find that I can't shift if I wear winter gloves, I miss-shift often and and just in general have really bad grip from anything like the handlebars to water bottles. What I tend to find is that using regular open-finger gloves I use for summer is enough given the conditions I ride in, except for the very extremes of weather.
